For the first time the BiH wine can be tasted at a famous restaurant in Centre of Tokyo

7/18/2024

Thanks to the efforts of representative of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA) in Japan Shigehiko Nishihama, for the first time the BH wine can be tasted at the famous restaurant "Morocco" located in the Centre of Tokyo, OTE-MACHI area.

The wines chosen were Vranac from Vino Manastir Tvrdoš (Trebinje) and Žilavka Quality from Vinograd Nuić (Ljuuški).

Mr. Nishihama promoted the BiH wines to well-known restaurants in Tokyo and negotiated their sale for a long time, until finally on July 12, 2024, he was informed that the well-known restaurant had decided to choose two types of BH wines to serve to his guests.

It should be noted that BiH have been exporting wines to Japan since January 2014 and that this is a great achievement considering the high competition at the Japanese market.

Mr. Nishihama has had good relations with winery owners in Bosnia and Herzegovina for more than 20 years. He visited them on several occasions so that he could start promoting them at the Japanese market.

Finally, in 2014, the Japanese import company M&P Corporation (Tokyo) decided to import local wines from 2 wineries Vino Manastir Tvrdoš (Trebinje) and Vinogradi Nuić (Ljubuški).

As of July 2024, M&P Corporation imports a total of 8 types of wines, 3 types from Vino Manastir Tvrdoš, Vranac, Blatina Barrique, Hum Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5 types from Vinograd Nuić, Žilavka Quality, Blatina Quality, Posip, Merlot, Syrah Premium.

These Bosnian-Herzegovinian wines are sold on the website of a shopping mall in Japan; http://item.rakuten.co.jp/chichukai/c/0000000358/

Consumers of the Japanese market are satisfied with the quality of the BiH wines and enjoy tasting, especially Žilavka and Blatina.

For significant sales of wines at the Japanese market, it is necessary to secure funds for their promotion.
