INVITATION TO THE COOPERATION NETWORK MEETING

9/3/2025

The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency in BiH (FIPA) is implementing the Aftercare program - a program of post-investment support for investors. In implementing this program, cooperation with local communities and ministries of economy is the most important, why the annual meeting of the Cooperation Network is being organized from beginning. This is a network of institutions of different levels of government with a dominant membership of municipalities, which was created in 2013 with the technical support of IFC - from the World Bank Group.

In accordance with the work program of the Cooperation Network for Support to Foreign Investors in BiH, representatives of partner institutions (municipalities, cities, ministries) together with representatives of FIPA have continued to visit companies with foreign capital in 2025. The aim of these visits is to identify investment conditions, achieved business results, but also problems that investors face in their business in our country, in direct discussions with foreign investors, and to provide support to companies in their business.

In this way, partner institutions, within their jurisdiction, make themselves available to foreign investors, in order to facilitate their investment activities, but also motivate them to make additional investments and create new jobs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year's Network meeting will be held in Živinice, on October 2,  2025, as part of the event "Živinice Open 2025".

FIPA and the City of Živinice invite members of the Collaborative Network to attend the meeting where the results of joint work in the previous period will be analyzed and activities for 2026 will be planned. They will exchange information on available projects/locations, as well as information on positive stories from foreign investors.

Global Investment Promotion Best Practices 2012 of the World Bank has cited one example of support that FIPA provides to foreign investors who are running business in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to contribute to increase the flow of foreign capital in the country.

The article said:

„The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina was an early convert to the idea of providing facilitation services to agribusiness investors as a way to maximize the positive impact of agriculture on the economy.

In 2007, for example, FIPA assisted a Dutch food processing company establish a US$1.6 million production facility to process unused milk ingredients into value-added products in Sarajevo to sell to markets in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

As part of its aftercare program, FIPA assisted the company with its expansion plans. Among other things, the agency helped facilitate veterinary permissions, navigate various bureaucratic hurdles and played an important role in securing funding for the company’s expansion. It also helped develop a network of local suppliers and customers. As a result of these efforts, the Dutch investor developed stronger links with the Bosnian economy, thus increasing the positive spillover effects on the local economy.

Currently a new investment to establish a drying facility for milk powder is under way. This will further expand the processing facilities of unused milk ingredients. This additional planned investment is worth approximately US$2.8 million, thus nearly trebling the company’s original investment in the country“.
