The Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH (FIPA) Gordan Milinić with his associates visited the Municipality of Šipovo and met with the Mayor Milorad Ćirko and associates.

The meeting was
focused on opportunities for investing in this area. It was proposed the
project of the construction of gypsum plant, mini-hydro power plants, coal mine,
tourist accommodations, bottled water, livestock and food production, and a factory
for final wood processing.
The wealth of
natural resources makes exceptional basis for tourism in Šipovo such as:
springs, rivers and lakes, clean air, mountains, forests, healthy food, hunting
and fishing, fly-fishing, hiking and rafting. The Municipality also has a large
amount of mineral resources (bentonite 2,170,000t; gypsum 1,500,000t; dolomite
2,735,780 m3.), uncultivated agricultural land (22,083 ha), as well as forest
land (22,399 ha). Rivers Pliva and Janja and smaller rivers Sokočnica,
Lubovica, Volarica source and flow through the territory of Šipovo, and
therefore represent a good basis for the construction of mini-hydropower plants
and water bottling. It was also discussed on the business zones and facilities
suitable for brownfield investments.
The FIPA Director
Gordan Milinić informed the participants about the activities of the Agency, as
well as the possibilities of cooperation on presenting potential of Šipovo to potential
foreign investors.
He stressed that
the main objectives of FIPA is bringing as much as possible foreign investors,
creates new jobs and significantly increases the inflow of foreign direct
investments. Therefore, the Agency has intensified its work and launched
activities on updating the database of investment projects where will be
included projects of Šipovo.
It was agreed
that the Municipality prepares projects, including initiatives of public and
private sector and forwards them to the Agency, which will try to make contacts
with foreign investors.
After the
Conference entitled "Project of Energy Efficiency by Application of Cogeneration
from Biomass," held on 19 July 2016 in Sarajevo, organized by FIPA and the
firm Alfa Invest, representatives of the Municipality talk with Italian
investors and analyse possibility of investing on the basis of which the Municipality
would produce heat and the electrical energy, which would contribute to
improving the economy situation and creating new jobs.
