The business delegation of Japan, which consisted of 17 companies from the IT, food production, energy, agriculture, tourism, and real estate sectors, visited the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim to have information on opportunities for investing and strengthening economic cooperation.
The
visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina followed after the Ambassador of BiH to Japan,
HE Siniša Berjan, with the support of FIPA, had presentations on investment
opportunities in BiH in the Lower House of the Parliament of Japan in February
this year.
The
Assistant Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and
Herzegovina (FIPA) Slavica Korica presented to the representatives of the
Japanese delegation the possibilities for investing in BiH with an emphasis on
the sectors representing Japanese businesspeople. It was noted that the amount
of investments from Japan is at a low level and that Japanese companies mainly
invested through their subsidiary companies based in European Union countries.
The
President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH Zdravko Marinković presented on
this occasion the key indicators of BiH's foreign trade exchange, after which a
presentation was held with a special focus on the exchange with Japan. The
volume of exchange with this country last year amounted to a modest 3.7 million
EUR, out of which imports were 2.9 million EUR, and exports about 0.8 million EUR.
It
was established that there is a possibility for improving the exchange,
especially in the sector of metal and electrical industry, wood and food
industry, services in the field of IT and tourism.
