Investment opportunities in BiH presented in Denmark

In cooperation with the Embassy of BiH in Denmark, led by THE Ambassador Emir Poljo, representatives of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA), Maida Bećirović, Secretary, and Slavica Korica, Assistant Director and Head of the Promotion and Analysis Sector, had on 14-15 November, in Copenhagen, several meetings with representatives of Danish institutions in order to present investment opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At a meeting with the managers of Invest in Denmark, which operates within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FIPA representatives presented the advantages of investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the sectors that could be interesting to foreign investors.

The meeting was also held with representatives of the Investment Fund for Developing Countries, whose focus is renewable energy, energy and infrastructure. The foundation was established in 1967 to help Danish companies in their internationalization. They invest fund with a focus on sustainable development with the aim to create better opportunities for residents in low- and middle-income countries. The focus is on "green" companies, renewable energy, technologies that promote lower CO2 emissions. Many years ago, the foundation was represented in our country supporting the construction sector and furniture production.

Given that Bosnia and Herzegovina is at the top of the low-income region, there are potentials for entering our market.

On this occasion, Mrs. Korica had a presentation on the advantages and opportunities for investments in BiH with a special emphasis on the energy and agricultural sectors. Promotional materials were distributed to the present representatives of the Foundation and they were asked to forward information about investment opportunities and available investment projects to their partners.

At a working meeting with representatives of the Confederation of Danish Industry - Dansk industry, the work of FIPA was presented, with an emphasis on potential in the energy sector.

Samir Džaferbegović, Director of Suzlon Wind Energy BH Company, also attended the meeting via video link from Sarajevo, who spoke about the experience of this company in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the potential of renewable energy sources in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Specifically, he pointed out the example of the "Ivan Sedlo" Project which is financed by a Danish company from Aalborg and which should start operating in 2024.

The visit to Denmark was realized with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
