- Activities for intensifying cooperation in the field of foreign direct investment are agreed
During her official visit to Greece and the
Thessaloniki International Fair 2021, the FIPA Director Milica Marković had a
meeting with the First Vice President of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce
and Industry Emmanouil Vlachogiannis and a member of the Board of Directors of
the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry Charilaos Alexopoulos. It was
stated that the biggest obstacles to more intensive investment in Bosnia and
Herzegovina are complicated transport connections and the non-existence of a
direct flight between the two countries, but that more and more Greek
businessmen are interested in the investment potentials of BiH. In order to inform
Thessaloniki businessmen with investment opportunities in BiH, FIPA, in cooperation
with the Chamber, will organize a webinar to present the experiences of the current
Greek investors in the country, as well as opportunities for new investments.
She also met with the President and General
Manager of the Alexander Innovation Zone in Thessaloniki, Loufakis and
Tramantzas Konstantinos. The situation in the ICT and BPO sector in BiH and
Greece, innovations and start-up ecosystems, and possible cooperation between
similar organizations in BiH were discussed.
She had a meeting with the Head of the
Republika Srpska Representation in Thessaloniki, Jelena Jovanović-Athanasiou,
and was informed about activities of the Representation. They agreed on joint
cooperation with the aim to promote the country and investment opportunities.
The Director of FIPA also met in Athens with
the Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of
International Economic Relations Ioannis Smyrlis and the General Manager of the
Enterprise Greece Agency for Foreign Investment Promotion in Greece Georgies
Filiopoulos and their associates, where the emphasis was on improving economic
cooperation, which is not accompanied by excellent bilateral political
cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador
of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Greece, Ms. Milica Ristović-Krstić, and further
plans were agreed regarding the preparation and implementation of the visit of
the Greek business delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the organization of
the Business Forum by the end of the year.
She also expressed FIPA's readiness to host
Greek businessmen and to present the business environment, available investment
projects and investment locations. They also discussed the intensification of
cooperation between FIPA and Enterprise Greece, and the signing of a Memorandum
of Cooperation that would define the framework of further joint projects,
taking into account the growing interest of Greek companies in BiH and the
region, primarily in investment and then in trade cooperation.
