Gordan Milinić,
Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH (FIPA), talked with
the newly-appointed Consul General of BiH in Stuttgart, Began Muhić, about the possibilities
of joint cooperation in improving economic relations between BiH and Germany in
the field of investments and exports.
Mr Milinić informed
the BiH diplomat on FIPA's activities in the field of attracting foreign
investments, promotion of the BH investment potential, as well as the trends of
inflows of foreign investments in BiH, with a focus on German investments
realized so far in our country.
Speaking of
foreign investments, he pointed out that Germany with 614 million BAM invested,
is ranked at the 7th position on the list of countries of the most
important investors in BiH. According to the data of the Central Bank of BH,
the share of investments from Germany amounts to 4.6%, in the total state of
direct foreign investments in BiH.
According to
the research of the German Economy Representation in BiH (AHK), 250 German
companies operate and employ about 6,000 workers.
Among the most
important investors from Germany are: Haidelberger Zement AG - Cement Factory
d.d. Kakanj; Messer Gresheim Haft. - Messer plants in Sarajevo, Mostar and
Zenica, Xella International - Xella BH d.o.o. Tuzla, production of building
materials, etc.
Since
Stuttgart is located in the Baden-Wurttenbeg region which is the seat of the
automotive industry and which is also known for a large number of mechanical
engineering companies, the BiH diplomat is expected to work on continuing to
expand existing economic co-operation between BiH and this region, as well as
to further deepen economic ties, as well as to promote the BiH potentials through
the organization of business meetings, participation in fairs and business
meetings with the aim to present opportunities for investing in BiH.
For many years
now, local companies have excellent cooperation with German companies from
Baden-Wurttenberg and it is very important to ensure continuation of successful
cooperation.
