- Intensify Public-Private Partnership for foreign investors
The Director
of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) Gordan Milinić received a
delegation from the Ministry of Economy of Tuzla Canton led by the Minister
Osman Puškar in order to discuss the continuation of successful cooperation in
attracting foreign investments in BiH.
Since the
Ministry of Economy is currently working on the development of new investment
projects, it has been agreed that all new projects will be included in the FIPA
project base in order to be offered intensively to foreign investors.
It was particularly
discussed the strengthening activities in the implementation of the Law on
Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for which the legal provisions in the Tuzla
Canton exist.
Considering
possibilities that Public-Private Partnership can offer in terms of attracting
both domestic and foreign investments in sectors such as health, sport,
culture, tourism, infrastructure, and public services, intensifying the PPP
implementation will automatically open new chances for investments’ growth.
It was noted
that PPP laws have not yet been adopted at the level of the FBiH and BiH, which
decrease the opportunities for foreign investments.
The meeting
also discussed business and free zones in BiH, emphasizing that a significant
number of business zones in BiH lack basic infrastructure for work, and
therefore cannot be interesting for business.
FIPA and the
Ministry will jointly work on the implementation of projects, and a joint
application for one of the TAIEX projects has been agreed with the aim to define
high-quality and applicable Public-Private Partnership laws in BiH.
