FIPA Discusses Foreign Investment with U.S. Department of State Regional Economic Officer

The Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH (FIPA), Gordan Milinić, received the visiting Regional Economic Officer from the Department of State, Justin Heung, and briefed him on BiH foreign direct investment trends and FIPA's activities. 

Mr. Milinić informed Mr. Heung about FIPA’s efforts to attract foreign investments, the current state of foreign investments, U.S. investments and trade with BiH, BiH’s advantages compared to others in the region, and sectors of interest to foreign investors, pointing out that in 2017 BiH recorded a 66.8% increase in foreign investments. 

FIPA shared information about the investment projects it has supported in various sectors, how it helps foreign investors in remove obstacles to project implementation, and FIPA’s efforts to implement an "Invest in BiH" media campaign to improve BiH’s image abroad and promote the country’s potential. 

According to the BiH Central Bank, levels of U.S. investment in BiH are low, at number 17 in terms of overall FDI.  The parties agreed that the BiH government at all levels, including BiH embassies abroad, should increase their efforts to improve the business environment and promote BiH as an investment destination.
