Meeting of the Collaborative Network for the Support of Foreign Investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of BiH (FIPA) together with the World Bank organized a workshop on the Aftercare program and a meeting of the Collaborative Network for the Support of Foreign Investors in BiH in Jahorina.

The FIPA Acting Director Marko Kubatlija pointed out on this occasion that the Post-Investment Support Program for Foreign Investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been implemented since 2007, and since 2013 it has been improved and implemented with the Collaborative Network, and represents the first comprehensive program with the goal to motivate existing investors in BiH for reinvesting, while improving ties with the local economy and all levels of government in BiH.

FIPA representatives (from all three offices - Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar) have so far made 775 visits to companies as part of the Post-Investment Support Program or Aftercare Program.

Bearing in mind the necessity of cooperation between institutions, at different levels of government, when solving obstacles that investors face in their business, as well as in order to create conditions for new investments, the Collaborative Network and joint visits to investors have confirmed their justification. The joint work improved the possibility for assistance to existing investors, so that the number of solved outstanding issues that are initiated at the request of investors, also increases.

By forming the Collaborative Network, existing investors get an integrated mechanism for business support on a long-term basis and in a systematic way.

FIPA has so far actively participated in 1,015 assistances with the aim to help foreign investors in solving problems and proposed 246 reform measures to improve business conditions.

Mr Kubatlija also stated that according to the first preliminary data of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the balance of payments, direct foreign investments in 2023 amount to 1.7 billion BAM, which represents an increase of 15.8% compared to the previous year.

Among other things, he spoke about the announced investments for 2024.

The event brought together representatives of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of BiH, the Republic of Srpska, municipalities, the World Bank, etc.
