-SERBIA IS THE 3rd INVESTOR IN BIH
The Director of the Foreign
Investment Promotion Agency of BiH (FIPA) Gordan Milinić received the
newly-appointed Ambassador of BiH to Serbia Aida Smajić in order to inform the
Ambassador about the current economic situation between the two countries with
a focus on Serbia's investments in BiH.
Talking about the
work of FIPA on animation of the BH economic diplomacy in the last three years,
he confirmed that this activity led to the organization of a number of economic
events attended by numerous foreign investors, which resulted in the opening of
companies in BiH and the employment of the local population.
By the end of
December 2017, the Republic of Serbia, according to the Central Bank of BiH,
invested 2.024.9 million BAM in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is the third largest
investor in BiH with a share of 15.1% in total investments.
Telekom Srbija bought
Telekom RS in 2007 for 646 million EUR. Banja Luka, and it is also the largest
investment from Serbia, and individual foreign investments in BiH.
In the total amount
of investments from Serbia, investments in the field of information and
communication dominate with a share of 70%, followed by investments in trade
with 11.3% and the manufacturing industry with 7.4%.
Among the most
important investors from the Republic of Serbia in BiH are: Telekom Srbija,
Komercijalna banka a.d. Belgrade, NIS - Petroleum Industry of Serbia, Hemofarm
AD, Swisslion-Takovo, Imlek a.d., and Galames Belgrade.
In addition, the
importance of organizing business meetings between BiH and foreign businessmen has
been highlighted in order to strengthen economic ties, increase investments,
and monitor economic developments in order to involve BiH business and
businessmen in new business flows.
The Ambassador is expected to establish a closer cooperation with the
Serbian Chamber of Commerce and other economic associations in order to
strengthen economic ties, investments and exports from BiH.
